We`ve had a good week with lots of Arequipa activities. Nicklas has climbed the vulcano Misti, which is towering over Arequipa with its 5800 something m.a.s.l. I stayed in town and had a nice shopping day. I have now sent home some of the things bought along the way. Hope the box reaches Sweden safely...I really like Arequipa, it`s a beautiful town with lots of nice white buildings, and more in order than other places we`ve been. Saying that, this town as any other around here has its slum areas with houses and streets where it seems impossible to live.This world is divided between tourists and the common people, as always...I also been to the frozen girl museum. It`s a museum containing Juanita, a 13 year old girl they found in a vulcano in 1995. She is almost completely intact after some hundreds years buried in the ice. They have found 6 more bodies in Misti and more in other places around here and in Argentina. The chidren were sacrified to the mountain in Inka times. They really still believe the mountains are alive here, but there`s no more human sacrifisies, just coca-leaves and objects nowadays.

We`ve been doing a 3-day trek in the Colca Canyon. It`s one of the world`s deepest canyons (the one next it is the deepest with 150 m more depth). Quite impressive I must say, and I was impressed by myself to be able to climb all the way down to the bottom of it. I was even more impressed to see Nicklas climball the way up starting 5 am in the morning yesterday! I myself rode a mule up the steep mountain. 

It`s time to pack up and check out from our hostel. Thanks Mario and Daniella for the recommendation, it`s a really nice place.
